New Car Sales
- October 2025 recorded 99,588 new car sales in Australia, as reported by VFACTS.
- New car sales increased by +1% compared to October 2024.
- Sales fell across most states, with ACT & TAS experiencing the largest drop at -5% YoY.
- PHEV sales surged by +139% YoY in October 2025.
- EV sales plummeted by -12% YoY, while petrol vehicle sales declined by -9% YoY in October 2025.





New Car Sales Trends
The top 5 models with the greatest increases so far in 2025 are:
- Toyota Prado (+19,773 units)
- Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (+15,510 units)
- BYD Shark 6 (+15,181 units)
- BYD Sealion 7 (+9,284 units)
- GWM Cannon 4X4 (+5,807 units)
The bottom 5 models with the greatest decreases so far in 2025 are:
- Kia Cerato (-12,678 units)
- Tesla Model Y (-12,516 units)
- Tesla Model 3 (-10,600 units)
- Toyota RAV4 (-8,554 units)
- Toyota Camry (-6,106 units)
The top segment increases so far in 2025 compared to 2024 are:
- Light Buses => 20 Seats (+175%)
- Sports < $90K (+89%)
- SUV Large < $80K (+45%)
- SUV Small > $45K (+41%)
- Light Buses < 20 Seats (+36%)
Conversely, some of the largest decreases are:
- Medium > $60K (-70%)
- Medium < $60K (-40%)
- Light < $30K (-25%)
- Small < $45K (-24%)
- Sports > $90K (-23%)
- SUV Upper Large < $120K (-23%)

Sales by Import Country
- Sales of imported vehicles from China continue to skyrocket with an increase of 34,508 units compared to 2024
- Sales of imported vehicles from Mexico have made a strong showing in October 2025 with an increase of 3,824 units compared to 2024
- Sales of imported vehicles from Thailand seeing the largest decrease of 19,590 units compared to 2024
- Sales of imported European vehicles continue to see declines
